In contrast, the Wizards have been even more of an abject disaster in setups like tonight. Against teams with a top 10 net rating according to Cleaning the Glass, the Wizards are 0-9 with a league-worst net rating of -22.7. The defense has been so horrendous in those games that their rating is 6.2 points worse than the second-worst team. That is the same difference as the 29th to the 21st.
Washington has the worst net rating in the league the last two weeks at -15.9 and the Thunder are up at fifth at +7.2. The Wizards are allowing the third most points to PGs in the last two weeks and have been a plus matchup all year long, so Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the engine of the Oklahoma City offense should be able to get rolling. Centers have feasted on Washington as well, so Chet Holmgren should be able to get Daniel Gafford or Mike Muscala into space and attack. The Thunder’s offensive floor is so high in this game that the Wizards should not be able to keep this close.
