Sixers vs Cavaliers Odds & Picks: Cavs To Keep it Close

The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center with tipoff set for 7:30 PM ET. The Cavaliers bring a three-game winning streak into this in-season tournament matchup with the 76ers, their East Group A counterparts.

Philadelphia, which has won two straight, returns home for a one-game pit stop amid a stretch of four road contests. The Sixers won both away games over the weekend, beating Atlanta 126-116 on Friday and thrashing Brooklyn 121-99 on Sunday.

Joel Embiid, the NBA’s reigning MVP and current league-leading scorer (31.9 points per game), almost had a triple-double on Sunday with 32 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

Philadelphia’s high-scoring offense aims to continue rolling against a Cleveland defense that seems to have found its footing during the Cavaliers’ three-game winning streak.

In consecutive victories over Portland, Detroit and reigning NBA champion Denver, Cleveland allowed an average of 101.3 points per night. Jarrett Allen helped key the defensive performance in Sunday’s 121-109 defeat of Denver, holding two-time MVP Nikola Jokic to only 18 points.

Sixers vs Cavaliers Best Bets

Cavaliers +8 (-115 DraftKings)

Even without Donovan Mitchell for a third straight game tonight, the Cavs have been on a roll. Center, Jarrett Allen just locked down Jokic and defensively, Cleveland ranks seventh-best in the league in opponent points in the paint. This should make things tough for Embiid in the post. Evan Mobley also has the defensive ability to slow down Sixers wing Tobias Harris. The Sixers are not a perimeter shooting team ranking just 28th in 3-point attempts per game. Cleveland loves to employ Darius Garland with a variety of “bigs” in pick and roll sets, drawing Embiid away from the basket. Make sure to monitor the injury report as Caris Levert is currently questionable. But if Levert plays, Cleveland’s defensive style of play and talent in the backcourt should give the Sixers fits.

Risk: 1.15 units on DraftKings to win 1 unit. (Playable to +7)

Sixers vs Cavaliers under 219 (-110 FanDuel)

As previously mentioned, with Cleveland being one of the better defensive units in the league, the Sixers should be hard-pressed to meet their 120.5 scoring average. Cleveland boasted the NBA’s stingiest defense a season ago at 106.9 points allowed per game and has only yielded an average of 101.3 during their three-game win streak. Also, with Mitchell out again the Cavs should keep the pace slow which could turn this game into a grind. Overall, both teams rank in the top-12 in defensive rating making the under the best play.

Risk: 1.1 Units on FanDuel to win 1 unit.
