Knicks Sign Jalen Brunson

NEW YORK, July 12, 2022 – The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed guard Jalen Brunson. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are beyond thrilled to add Jalen Brunson to our organization,” said Knicks president Leon Rose. “He’s a competitor, a leader, a playmaker, and most importantly a winner. His addition is a perfect complement to the team that we are building and the culture we are establishing.” 

Brunson, 6-1, 190 pounds, averaged career highs of 16.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 31.9 minutes over 79 games (61 starts) for Dallas last season. He shot 50.2-percent from the field, 37.3-percent from downtown and 84-percent from the free throw line. In 18 playoff games (all starts), he averaged 21.6 points on 46.4-percent shooting, 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists over 34.9 minutes in helping lead the Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals. He recorded three 30-plus point efforts during the postseason, including a career best 41 points in a First Round Game 2 win over Utah on Apr. 18.

The New Jersey-native, holds career averages of 11.9 points on 49.4-percent shooting, 3.7 assists and three rebounds over 24.7 minutes in 277 games (127 starts) over four seasons with Dallas. He was originally selected by Dallas in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft, following a four-year career at the University of Villanova. The 25-year-old was named the Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year in 2018 and won two national championships with the Wildcats in 2016 and 2018.
