NEW YORK, August 11, 2016 – The New York Knickerbockers will open the team’s 70th anniversary season of NBA basketball on Tuesday, Oct. 25, facing the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers on the road, at 8:00 p.m. The team’s home-opener at Madison Square Garden will be Saturday, Oct. 29 versus the Memphis Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m.
New York’s regular season home schedule is highlighted by two visits from the NBA Champion Cavaliers on Wednesday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 4 and one visit by the Western Conference Champion Golden State Warriors on Sunday, Mar. 5. Holiday games at MSG include the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day game on Monday, Jan. 16 versus the Atlanta Hawks at 1:00 p.m. and Christmas Day versus Boston Celtics at noon. The team will play a total of eight afternoon games at home.
Prior to the 82-game regular season, New York will participate in six preseason games, with the schedule to be released at a later date. MSG Network, the award- winning television home of the New York Knickerbockers, will telecast 71 regular season games, and all six preseason games.
