Stephen Curry Takes Home ESPY Award for Best Record-Breaking Performance

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

Stephen Curry's evening at The ESPYS included winning an award and being the presenter for the prestigious Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry was honored with an ESPYs Award for “Best Record-Breaking Performance” for his single-season NBA-record 402 three-pointers in 2015-16 at the 2016 ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles last night. Fans determined the winners in each category by voting online beginning in late June, when the nominations were announced, until the start of this evening’s ceremony, which was broadcast on ABC.

Stephen Curry, who earned his third career ESPY after last year taking home the “Best Male Athlete” and “Best NBA Player,” awards, led the Warriors to an NBA-record 73 regular-season wins and a second-straight NBA Finals appearance in 2015-16. Curry was named the first unanimous MVP in league history and just the 11th player ever to win back-to-back MVP awards, leading the league in scoring with 30.1 points per game.

Also nominated for “Best Record-Breaking Performance” were Stanford University’s Christian McCaffrey and the University of Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma.
