Oklahoma City, Monday, Aug. 16 – The Thunder announced today that the Thunder Girls have been invited to participate in 2010 NBA Madness in Taiwan. The tour is a grassroots event combining outdoor tournaments with pick-up games and interactive basketball elements.
The Thunder Girls are the only NBA dance team represented at the event. Selected members include veterans Alexis, Bonnie, Krystal, LaTeshia, Riane and Sheri, along with dance team manager and choreographer Carmen Butler.
The team will arrive in Taiwan on Wednesday, Aug. 18, and will begin appearances on Friday, Aug. 20. Their schedule includes sponsorship events, performances, and photo opportunities with fans.
“We’re very honored that the NBA has recognized the Thunder Girls to be part of the tour,” said Butler. “This shows the talent and dedication of our dance team to be one of the best in the NBA. We are excited to represent the NBA and Oklahoma.”
This is the second international appearance the Thunder Girls have been invited to. Last year the team was selected to attend the London 5 United Tour in five European cities.
