Thunder to Play on Christmas Night

OKLAHOMA CITY, December 2, 2011 – The Oklahoma City Thunder will tip-off the 2011-12 season versus the Orlando Magic at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Christmas Night, December 25th at 7 p.m. CST, contingent on timely ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement. The announcement was made earlier today as part of the NBA’s five-game Christmas Day slate.

For a second consecutive season, the Thunder will take part in the holiday festivities as they once again take their home court for this marquee event.

"The Thunder is honored to be selected by the NBA to host an opening night game,” said Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing Brian Byrnes. “We are pleased that our team and our fans can be home for the holidays inside our newly renovated home, Chesapeake Energy Arena and we are hard at work to make sure we provide an entertaining, festive atmosphere to usher in the new season."

The Thunder’s full regular-season and broadcast schedules will be released at a future date. Single-game tickets for the first half of the season will go on sale Monday, December 12th at 10 a.m. online only at THUNDER.NBA.COM. The Christmas Night game will be carried regionally in HD on Fox Sports Oklahoma and nationally on ESPN.
