Pumpkin Up!

Do something fun with your family AND show support for your team.WHAT IS "PUMPKIN UP!"?

It’s the first Sunday Family Night game of the season and we’re celebrating with pumpkins. We want you to “Thunder Up” and decorate a Thunder-themed pumpkin for display at the Ford Center on Sunday, November 1, 2009.

Every eligible participant gets into the game for free, and the most creative fans will be recognized during halftime and featured with their pumpkin on THUNDER.NBA.COM.ONE PUMPKIN EQUALS ONE TICKET

The first 200 entrants who bring an eligible pumpkin to the Nov. 1 game will receive complimentary admission to that night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. One eligible pumpkin equals one game ticket; you will also be able to purchase additional tickets next to the complimentary seat if not everyone in your party brought a pumpkin.THE HALFTIME RECOGNITION

Every eligible pumpkin brought to the game will be considered for recognition during the game at halftime. A selection panel comprised of local, professional artists and Thunder and Allied Arts staff will choose their favorite pumpkins to be highlighted. All recognized participants will receive a Thunder prize pack that includes player-autographed merchandise.LIGHT UP THE FORD CENTER

Your pumpkin will be placed in front of the Ford Center in our Thunder Pumpkin Patch and, when it gets dark, we’ll light them up! The patch will be available for photographs and viewing by fans until 30 minutes after the game. Candles will be provided.WHAT DOES “ELIGIBLE PUMPKIN” MEAN?

A pumpkin is considered eligible if it is obviously Thunder-themed and/or inspired. Other than that, the sky is the limit. Pumpkins may be carved, painted, collaged or artistically designed in any way to reflect the Thunder identity (i.e., logos, players, Thunder Girls, Rumble, basketball court, etc.). You could even make a pumpkin out of another material…it’s totally up to you.WHAT TIME SHOULD I GET TO THE GAME?

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early in order to ensure that they get in free. Pumpkins must be registered by tipoff at 6 p.m. Only the first 200 entrants receive complimentary admission and it’s first-come, first-serve.NEED INSPIRATION?

To get the creative juices flowing, the Thunder has teamed up with Allied Arts to commission the help of local artists in creating Thunder pumpkins. Their work can be viewed in our online pumpkin patch/photo gallery. You can also view these works of art in person during the month of October at the Thunder Shop in downtown Oklahoma City.

Allied Arts is Central Oklahoma's only United Arts Fund whose mission is “Enriching Our Communities Through Advancement of the Arts.” Get some Pumpkin Up! design ideas by viewing the PHOTO GALLERYWHEN INSPIRATION ISN'T ENOUGH...
