Thunder Girls Visiting China

Oklahoma City, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 – Six members of the Thunder Girls have traveled to China to join the league’s outreach efforts, the Thunder announced today.

The visit is the dance team’s 10th international trip, marking the seventh consecutive year the Thunder Girls have been selected to represent Oklahoma City and the NBA overseas.

“We are excited to have the Thunder Girls represent our team, our fans and the state of Oklahoma in China,” said Brian Byrnes, Thunder senior vice president of Sales and Marketing. “China has displayed tremendous support for the NBA and Thunder Basketball, and it is an honor to connect with our Chinese fans who have loyally embraced our team.”

The team departed from Oklahoma City on Monday, Aug. 31, and will return to the States on Sept. 10. Their schedule includes visits to the Anta sporting goods stores in Foshan, Changsha and Chengdu, as well as a performance at a nation event. Team members on the trip include Jaimie, Jessica, Kourtney, Sarah, Stephanie and Tiffany, plus Thunder Girls Manager Paige Carter.

The Thunder Girls were selected to attend the London 5 United Tour in 2009, and in 2010, they were invited to NBA Madness in Taiwan. The dance team has previously visited China three times, and they toured Japan as NBA ambassadors in 2012. In October 2013, they joined the Thunder players for the NBA global games in Turkey and England. Most recently, the Thunder Girls traveled to the Philippines in May 2015.
