Thunder to Hold Auditions for Storm Chasers and Rain Drops

Oklahoma City, Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 – The Oklahoma City Thunder announced today that it is seeking energetic and talented fans to be a part of the game-night show at Chesapeake Energy Arena as members of the team’s official interactive squad, the Storm Chasers, and as members of the Rain Drops, the team’s junior dance team.

The team will hold auditions for the Storm Chasers at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, and for the Rain Drops at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Both auditions will take place at the INTEGRIS Blue Development Center in Edmond.

The Storm Chasers, presented by Raising Cane’s, keep fans excited and engaged at Thunder home games during pregame, timeouts, promotions and other game breaks. The team showcases individuals with a variety of talents, from acrobatic dunking to dancing. The team also makes community appearances in support of Thunder programs and events.

Ideal candidates are energetic and charismatic individuals with unique talents and skills to help connect with fans and maintain a high level of excitement at the arena and during Thunder events. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to audition.

As part of the Thunder Junior Dance program, the Rain Drops, presented by Trochta’s Flowers and Garden Center, have proven to be fan favorites at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The dance squad features dancers ages 7 to 12 who perform a variety of routines at Thunder home games.

Kids interested in trying out for the squad must demonstrate a high energy level and excellent dance skills. The Rain Drops practice weekly and perform once a month during the season. By participating in the Rain Drops program, squad members receive professional dance instruction, as well as takeaways such as a T-shirt, shoes and Rain Drops uniform. Each squad member will also receive two tickets for every Thunder regular season game with a Rain Drops performance. For performers who make the squad, dues for participation will be $75 for the 2015-16 season.

“We always look to make Thunder home games a great entertainment experience for the whole family," said John Leach, Thunder director of Events and Entertainment. “The Storm Chasers and Rain Drops are an important part of our fans’ game-night experience and allow us to maintain a high-energy and exciting environment at Chesapeake Energy Arena."

Fans interested in trying out for the Storm Chasers can find more information and pre-register on the team website, okcthunder.com. Registration for the Rain Drops junior dance team is $10 and will open at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the audition.
