OKLAHOMA CITY, January 29, 2015 – Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and guard Russell Westbrook were named to 2015 Western Conference All-Star team, it was announced by the NBA. The 64th NBA All-Star Game will be played in New York City on Feb. 15, 2015.
Durant, who is making his sixth consecutive All-Star appearance, recorded a game-high tying 38 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes during last year’s All-Star Game in New Orleans, LA, and in the process became the first player in All-Star history to score 30 or more points in four consecutive All-Star games. Durant has scored 153 points in his five All-Star appearances, the most among any NBA player in his first five All-Star appearances. This season, the reigning Kia NBA Most Valuable Player is averaging 25.6 points on 51.9% shooting from the field, 6.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.00 block and 33.1 minutes in 21 games (all starts).
Westbrook is making his fourth All-Star appearance this year. In his previous three All-star appearances he averaged 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.00 steal in 20.0 minutes. This season, the guard is averaging 25.2 points, 7.5 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 2.28 steals and 32.2 minutes in 32 games (all starts). Since 1976 only three players have registered Westbrook current averages: Dwyane Wade (2008-09), LeBron James (2004-05) and Michael Jordan (1988-89).
The 64th NBA All-Star Game will tip off Sunday, Feb. 15, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The game will be seen by fans in 215 countries and territories and will be heard in 47 languages.
