COX Presenting Partner of Thunder Youth Camps

Oklahoma City, May 5, 2010 – As part of its commitment to young people in the community, the Oklahoma City Thunder has announced that Cox Communications is the presenting partner of Thunder Youth Basketball Camps. With six such camps scheduled for this summer, the Thunder and Cox are teaming up to help instruct children on the fundamentals of basketball and the life lessons that stem from the game.

“We are excited about our partnership with Cox in our continued efforts to help young people learn a love for basketball and lead happy, productive lives,” said Dan Mahoney, Thunder Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Relations. “The camps are a terrific setting for young Thunder fans to develop basketball skills and have a lot of fun in the process.”

Mahoney added that the camps also focus on such concepts as teamwork, sportsmanship, humility, discipline and respect. Each of the five-day camps will feature a Thunder presence that could include coaches, players, Rumble or Thunder Girls.

Cox officials said they are looking forward to the partnership.

“Cox is very excited about our long-term partnership with the Thunder in offering youth basketball camps,” said Kristin Peck, Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for Cox Communications. “We look forward to this opportunity to help kids learn basketball skills, the importance of physical fitness, valuable life lessons and have fun at the same time.”

The Thunder Youth Basketball Camps are open to boys and girls from 6 to 16. Registration and additional information is available online at thunder.nba.com. Thunder Season Ticket Members and members of the Thunder Kids Club receive a 20-percent discount off registration. Each participant receives a Thunder Youth Basketball T-shirt, headband and bag, as well as a ticket to an upcoming Thunder game.

The Thunder works with the National Basketball Academy to run the camps. The Academy organizes youth basketball programs for several other NBA teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and Minnesota Timberwolves.

In March, the Thunder held a Spring Break Camp in Oklahoma City that drew more than 120 participants.
