Thunder Youth Basketball Summer Camps to Begin in May

OKLAHOMA CITY, Thursday, April 3, 2014 – The Oklahoma City Thunder will hold 10 youth basketball camps throughout the summer, the team announced today. New this year will be camps that offer more focused instruction for participants at varying age and skill levels.

Thunder Youth Basketball camps are presented by Cox Communications.

Several camps will be held at the Thunder Community Events Center in Edmond, with additional camps throughout the Oklahoma City metro and in Tulsa. Four Thunder Youth Basketball camps are open to children ages 10-16, offering them an opportunity to hone their basketball skills beyond the basics. The team is also offering four Thunder Youth Basketball junior camps, designed to give participants ages 5-9 an introduction to the fundamentals of the game.

Thunder Youth Basketball flex camps will take place the last week of May and the first week of August, giving families with children ages 5-16 the option of attending between one and five days of camp.

All camps emphasize both development of basketball skills and the importance of life lessons such as teamwork, sportsmanship and respect. Each camp participant will receive a Thunder Youth Basketball T-shirt, $10 voucher for the Thunder Shop and a basketball.

Registration for all summer camps is available at THUNDER.NBA.COM, under the Community tab. The team offers discounts to Season Ticket Members and Devon Thunder Kids Club members.

ABOUT THE THUNDER COMMUNITY EVENTS CENTER: The Thunder Community Events Center served as the original practice and training home of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder continues to use this facility for events, including many of its camps and clinics. From the original floor to the locker room, the Thunder Events Center preserves the team's history, while providing a unique venue for both Thunder and other events.
