Spurs Post Impressive Ratings on Opening Night

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The San Antonio Spurs today announced that the team’s opening night win was the highest rated primetime program on Monday night in San Antonio. The Spurs posted a 95-82 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in front of a sellout crowd of 18,581 in the AT&T Center. The game, broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest, posted an 8.8 rating and a 14.0 share in overnight Nielsen ratings.

“We often say that we have the best fans in the NBA and, to me, this proves that point,” said Mike Kickirillo, director of broadcasting for Spurs Sports and Entertainment. “To beat out Monday Night Football, on a record-setting night by Drew Brees, is a tribute to the passion our fans have for the Spurs.”

The Spurs-Grizzlies rating peaked with a 10.5 rating and 17.0 share in the fourth quarter of the game.

The Spurs are back in action on Wednesday night, hosting the Clippers in a 7:30 tip off at the AT&T Center. The Spurs-Clippers game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest. As with all Spurs games on FSSW, a 30-minute preview show, Spurs Live, will air prior to the game.
