David Robinson Night Set for Sunday, Nov. 29 with a Special Tribute to The Admiral and The Carver Academy

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs will honor David Robinson with “David Robinson Tribute Night,” presented by H-E-B, on Sunday, November 29 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. The night will honor Robinson’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and celebrate his initiatives and inspirations in the San Antonio community, most impressively The Carver Academy.

A special post-game tribute ceremony will highlight David’s contributions on the court, while also focusing on his dedication, commitment and outreach in the community. All fans in attendance will be part of the special tribute ceremony, where David will be honored by the Spurs and personally deliver his message of gratitude and awareness. The ceremony, emceed by former Spurs forward Sean Elliott, will include video highlights of David’s career, and the re-unveiling of David’s retired jersey to reflect his Hall of Fame status. Following the ceremony, all fans will receive a David Robinson Tribute Night poster and receive a pledge card for an opportunity to give back to David through The Carver Academy.

The Carver Academy was established by David Robinson in 2001 and offers elementary-age children a challenging academic program featuring small classes, leadership opportunities and a nurturing family-like environment based upon the foundation of Judeo-Christian scripture. Graduates of The Carver Academy will be prepared for success in the nation’s most competitive high schools and will display the highest level of leadership, discipline, initiative and integrity.

Robinson spent his entire 14-year NBA career with the Spurs and was part of the 1999 and 2003 NBA Championship teams. The Admiral’s numerous accolades include the NBA’s MVP award in 1995, the Defensive Player of the Year in 1992 and NBA Rookie of the Year in 1990. In addition, Robinson won the 1991 NBA Rebounding Title, the NBA Blocked Shots Titles in 1992 and the 1994 Scoring Title (he and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the only two players in NBA history to win each of the three titles). He was the first player in NBA history to be named to an All-NBA Team and All-Defensive Team in each of his first seven seasons. The Admiral was a 10-time All-Star and was named one of the NBA’s Top 50 Players in 1996.
