Spurs to Host Food Drive with Team Up Students Saturday

Prior to the Spurs hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m., Team Up Challenge students from Kerrville’s Peterson Middle School will be collecting canned goods at the AT&T Center’s east entrance beginning at 5 p.m.

Peterson Middle School students have partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank for their Team Up Challenge project. Their project focuses on raising awareness of hunger in the Kerrville community and works to support local food pantries. The students raised over $1,500 with an online “Bowls for Souls” auction in December, and have hosted numerous food drives in Kerrville. The San Antonio Mobile Food Bank was able to go out to Kerrville for the first time with funds raised by the Team Up Challenge project. Each week the students also write inspiring and encouraging quotes on bags that are given to those who receive food assistance.
