Manu Ginobili Named To All-NBA Third Team

SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 12, 2011) – The NBA today announced that San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili was named to the 2010-11 All-NBA Third Team. Joining Ginobili on the third team is New Orleans guard Chris Paul, Portland forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Memphis forward Zach Randolph and Atlanta center Al Horford.

Ginobili earns his second All-NBA Third Team selection. He previously was awarded that honor for the 2007-08 season, when he became the first South American in league history to earn All-NBA recognition. This marks the 35th time in team history that a Spur has been selected to an All-NBA team, which includes 18 First Team selections, eight Second Team selections and nine Third Team selections.

Ginobili appeared in 80 games, averaging 17.4 points, 4.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.54 steals in 30.3 minutes. He shot .433 (441-of-1,018) from the field, .349 (154-of-441) from three-point territory and .871 (357-of-410) from the free throw line. He ranked 11th in the NBA in steals per game and 12th in free throw percentage. He scored 20-or-more in 34 games and recorded two 30-plus contests, including a season-high 35 points against Memphis on February 27.

Selected to play in the 2011 All-Star Game, his second All-Star selection, Ginobili recorded 7 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals for the Western Conference team. In the playoffs, he appeared in five games, averaging 20.6 points, 4.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.60 steals while shooting .443 (31-of-70) from the field.

The All-NBA Teams were chosen by a panel of 119 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis.
