October 3, 2018 – NBC Sports California and NBCSportsCalifornia.com (@NBCSAuthentic), “Home of the Authentic Kings Fan,” announced today its coverage of the Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) for the 2018-19 season, which includes: presenting 82 games (81 regular season, 1 preseason); legendary Kings color analyst Jerry Reynolds joining Kings Pregame Live and Kings Postgame Live and returning to call select games; comprehensive game-day coverage with Kings Pregame Live and Kings Postgame Live shows; and Kings and NBA news, analysis and insider reports on NBCSportsCalifornia.com.

The Kings will open their season on NBC Sports California versus the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.  Calling all the action for Kings games on NBC Sports California will be the announcing team of Grant Napear (@GrantNapearshow) and Doug Christie (@TheDougChristie).  Legendary Kings broadcaster Jerry Reynolds will reunite with longtime broadcast partner Napear and provide color commentary for select games this season.  Kayte Christensen-Hunter (@kayte_c) will return as sideline reporter for select games.

In addition to the 81 regular-season games, NBC Sports California will televise one preseason game on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. as the Kings host the Jazz.

Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic exited Serbia’s 91-65 World Cup Qualifying victory over Estonia on Monday after experiencing left knee discomfort early in the first quarter. Further evaluation revealed a minor injury to his left knee. On Monday, a minor arthroscopic procedure is scheduled at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, to be performed by Dr. Riley Williams. Bogdanovic is expected to make a full recovery and an update will be provided when it is available.

On Monday, March 19 when the Sacramento Kings take on the Detroit Pistons, the team will host “Celebrating Sactown Night” featuring special game night entertainment and guests that represent the best of the region and embody #SacramentoProud. During the game, the Kings Foundation will present the 2018 Pete Saco Awards, shining a spotlight on local high school athletics and the impact sports can have on a community.

The annual Pete Saco Awards presented by the Kings Foundation recognize a student-athlete, coach and team that have upheld the retired Commissioner for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Sac-Joaquin Section core beliefs and values – accountability, passion and sportsmanship while also serving the community.

More community champions who support student-athletes in the region will be honored during the night. Through the team’s partnership with Walmart, Tony Pena of Mesa Verde High School will be presented with the Community Playmaker award for his work as an educator and a coach. Sunrise Recreation and Park District Coach Stephanie Chico will be recognized as the Kings Jr. NBA Coach of the Year for her role as an athlete mentor, winning nine championships and achieving a 92-38 all-time record over sixteen seasons.

Special performances during game breaks will include a dance by select Sacramento Kings Dance Alumni and halftime performances by California Dance Company and Upstage Production. Throughout the game, NFL players Arik Armstead, Ahkello Witherspoon, Devontae Booker, Eddie Vanderdoes, Jordan Carrell and Jeremy Newberry will join college football stars and future NFL draft members Kolton Miller and Matt Dickerson – all Northern California natives – will join the Kings entertainment team for games, t-shirt tosses and more.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento Kings announced today that the team has requested waivers on guards David Stockton, Matt Jones and Reggie Hearn.  

 Stockton appeared in two contests for Sacramento during the preseason, averaging 11.5 points (9-13 FG, 3-4 3pt, 2-4 FT) and 5.0 assists in 16.3 minutes per game, including a game-high 23 points to accompany three rebounds, eight assists and two steals off the bench at Golden State (10/13).

 Jones played in five exhibition games, posting 2.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 11.7 minutes per contest.

 Hearn appeared in one preseason game.

Friday, July 17, 2009:  SACRAMENTO, CA  ---- Sacramento Kings Head Coach Paul Westphal today announced an addition to his coaching staff, reaching an agreement with former Idaho Stampede (D-League) Head Coach Bryan Gates to join the team as an assistant coach.

“We're just thrilled to be able to add Bryan to our staff,” said Westphal. “He's had great success everywhere he's been. He's really been looking for a chance to take a step into the NBA and we're thrilled to provide that opportunity. I think he's going to add a lot to our staff."

Gates is a two-time recipient of the Dennis Johnson D-League Coach of the Year award (2006-07, 2007-08), having spent the past three seasons as the head coach for Idaho where he compiled a record of 101-51 (.664 winning percentage), including winning the NBA Development League Championship in 2007-08. In all, Gates worked 12 seasons with the Stampede, serving in various roles with the club since its inception, and has also coached for the IBA’s Rapid City Thrillers, CBL’s Hickory Nutz, USBL’s Oklahoma Storm, and the Beirut Blue Stars in Lebanon.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009:  SACRAMENTO, CA  ---- The Sacramento Kings today acquired the services of Drew Gooden, Andres Nocioni (No-SEE-oni), Cedric Simmons and Ike Diogu (DEE-ah-goo) in a three-team trade that sent Brad Miller and John Salmons to the Chicago Bulls and Michael Ruffin to the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Kings’ President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie.

“In Gooden and Nocioni, we’ve acquired two very skilled and proven frontcourt players as well as two young forwards in Simmons and Diogu,” explained Petrie. “Additionally, this trade potentially accelerates our salary cap flexibility going forward. We want to thank Brad, John and Quincy for their dedication and efforts and wish them the best.”

Originally selected with the fourth overall pick of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, Gooden, a 6-10, 250-pound forward-center, is currently in his seventh NBA season out of Kansas.

He averaged 13.1 points (.457 FGs, .866 FTs), 8.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in 31 contests (started 27) for the Bulls this season.  Gooden has amassed career averages of 12.1 points (.470 FGs, .221 3FGs, .730 FTs), 8.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game through 490 contests, of which he has started in 395 with Memphis, Orlando, Cleveland and Chicago.

He returns to Northern California where he played high school basketball at El Cerrito High in Oakland. He participated in the NBA Playoffs on three separate occasions (once with Orlando and twice with Cleveland), averaging 10.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game through 40 outings. Gooden was a key member of Cleveland’s 2007 NBA Finals team.

Nocioni, a 6-7, 225-pound forward who is currently in his fifth season in the NBA, all with Chicago, averaged 10.4 points (.414 FGs, .378 3FGs, .806 FTs), 4.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game through 53 contests (two starts) for the Bulls. Signed as a free agent in 2004, Nocioni had appeared in 298 games (139 starts) for Chicago entering the 2008-09 campaign, averaging 12.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25.4 minutes. He has also been a member of the Argentinean Men’s Senior National Team since 1999, helping his country take home the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Simmons, a 6-9, 235-pound forward, is in his third NBA season out of North Carolina State. He averaged 2.5 points (.524 FGs, .429 FTs) and 1.1 rebounds through 11 contests for the Bulls this season. Originally selected in the first round (15th overall pick) of the 2006 NBA Draft by the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, Simmons, who spent the 2007-08 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has career averages of 2.4 points (.419 FGs, .386 FTs) and 2.0 rebounds per game through 68 outings.

Diogu, a 6-9, 250-pound forward in his fourth NBA season, averaged 1.4 points (.316 FGs, .750 FTs) and 0.9 rebounds per game in 19 contests for Portland. Originally drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the ninth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, Diogu has posted career averages of 5.9 points (.494 FGs, .808 FTs) and 3.0 rebounds per game in 177 career contest (17 starts).

Miller, who is currently in 11th NBA season and fifth with the Kings, is averaging 11.9 points (.474 FGs, .465 3FGs, .801 FTs), 8.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 31.5 minutes per game over 43 contests. After enjoying a solid four-year collegiate career at Purdue, Miller was not drafted in the 1998 NBA Draft. He signed as a free agent with the Charlotte Hornets in the middle of the 1998-99 season. Miller, a 7-0, 261-pound center, has amassed career averages of 12.1 points (.488 FGs, .332 3FGs, .799 FTs), 7.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game through 684 outings, of which he started in 555 with Charlotte, Chicago, Indiana and Sacramento. A two-time NBA All-Star, Miller represented the Pacers and Kings, respectively, in the 2003 and 2004 NBA All-Star Games.

Salmons, who is currently in his seventh NBA season and third with the Kings, is averaging 18.3 points (.472 FGs, .418 3FGs, .823 FTs), 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.09 steals and 37.4 minutes per game through 53 outings (most productive of his career). Originally selected in the first round (26th pick overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs (traded to Philadelphia on Draft Night) out of the University of Miami where he enjoyed a four-year career. Salmons, a 6-6, 207-pound swingman, has posted career averages of 8.3 points (.446 FGs, .354 3FGs, .795 FTs), 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game over 494 contests, of which he started in 170 with the 76ers and Kings.
