Shane Battier Selected as 2013 Magic Johnson Award Winner

MIAMI, FL – The Pro Basketball Writers Association announced that HEAT forward Shane Battier has been selected as the 2013 Magic Johnson Award winner. The award is presented annually by the Pro Basketball Writers Association to a player who combines excellence on the court with cooperation with the media and fans. This marks Battier’s first Magic Johnson Award honor and the first by a HEAT player.

Battier was selected out of 12 finalists for the honor, including HEAT teammates Ray Allen and LeBron James, along with Tyson Chandler, Jamal Crawford, Kevin Durant, Pau Gasol, Manu Ginobili, Al Horford, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Paul and Zach Randolph. Additionally, past winners include current HEAT players Chris Bosh (2009-10) and Ray Allen (2002-03).
