Miami HEAT Set Opening Night Roster

MIAMI, October 31 - The Miami HEAT announced today that they have set their opening night roster for the 2005-06 NBA season and waived guards Andre Emmett and Gerald Fitch and forward Darius Rice. The club's roster now stands at 15, with Shandon Anderson, Michael Doleac and James Posey on the inactive list.

Emmett was acquired by the HEAT along with James Posey, Antoine Walker and Jason Williams in a five-team, 13-player trade on August 2. He appeared in four preseason games, averaging 1.8 points in 5.5 minutes per game.

Fitch was signed as a free agent by the HEAT on August 12. He did not play in any preseason games due to a lower back injury.

Rice signed with the HEAT as a free agent on October 3. He appeared in two preseason games, averaging 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.0 minutes per game.

The HEAT begin their season on Wednesday, November 2 in Memphis.
