2010 HEAT Draft Party to Be Held Thursday

Doors Open at 6:30 p.m. ▪ Enter To Win 2010-11 HEAT Season Tickets in “Pick the Pick” Contest ▪ Fans Encouraged to Show Support for “We Want Wade”

MIAMI, 6/21 – The 2010 Miami HEAT Draft Party will be hosted at the AmericanAirlines Arena on Thursday, June 24, the team announced today. Fans in attendance will watch ESPN’s live coverage of the 2010 NBA Draft on HEATV in the arena’s Lower Bowl. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and free parking will be provided in the P2 parking garage while space is available. ESPN’s draft coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. Miami holds the Nos. 18, 41, 42, and 48 picks.

Activities include HEAT Dancer autographs, a We Want Wade video station, where fans can record a message for Dwyane Wade which may be uploaded to WeWantWade.com, the official campaign headquarters, and a HEAT “Pick the Pick” contest station. “Pick the Pick” is a HEAT Facebook contest where fans guess the team’s first-round draft selection. Fans must have an active Facebook account to participate. In addition, select concession stands will be open throughout the arena.

WINZ 940 AM, the HEAT’s flagship station, will be the exclusive radio station broadcasting live from the arena. HEAT Radio Broadcasters Mike Inglis and John Crotty and studio host Tommy Tighe will provide commentary and analysis of each HEAT draft pick.

Additionally, HEAT legend and Vice President, Player Programs Alonzo Mourning will make an appearance and participate in a live interview with HEAT/Sun Sports Broadcasters Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino, Courtside Reporter Jason Jackson, and Spanish Radio Broadcaster José Pañeda. Members of the HEAT Entertainment Team, including Burnie, in-arena host Dale, P.A. announcer Michael Baiamonte, the Xtreme Team, as well as the HEAT Dancers will be in attendance to provide entertainment and to interact with the crowd.

ESPN will also “cut-in” live to the HEAT Draft Party, showing the event live during their national broadcast of the 2010 NBA Draft.

Miami Hoops Gear, the official team store, will be open for the duration of the draft, where fans can purchase the official adidas Miami HEAT Draft cap, as well as other HEAT merchandise. Customers will also be able to pre-order the HEAT draft pick's jersey.

The 2010 HEAT Draft Party will also be another element of the We Want Wade campaign. The HEAT will distribute 3,000 We Want Wade T-shirts and commemorative posters to fans entering the building. Fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing Wade gear and bringing signs to show their love for the six-time All-Star. HEATV will also show Wade video highlights throughout the event.

The Draft Party marks one of the last remaining days that fans can purchase 2010-11 Season Tickets at the current low price, as ticket prices are slated to increase following the upcoming NBA Free Agency period.
