Dancer Rookie Blog: Divide and Conquer

by: Bianka

I have always had aspirations of becoming a Miami HEAT Dancer. Since I was a little girl on Jr. Jam, I knew I was meant to perform on the HEAT floor. Now that I've finally become a Miami HEAT Dancer, my schedule has gotten a bit...hot...like, white hot! Being a HEAT Dancer on top of being a dance instructor and having a steady 9-5 job can get a bit...hectic. So what’s my secret? My daily planner! I divide and conquer my day by planning my hours, games, practices, promos, and my favorite - sleep. Then it's back to the grind, waking up before the sun with my Cuban coffee in one hand and my gym bag full of practice and work clothes in the other.

Another aspect that helps me stay organized is the spirit of the team this season! It gives me the fire to wake up each day ready to get better and squeeze the most out of those 16-18+ hour days. This past holiday season I had to juggle our packed MHD schedule, holiday shopping and family time. This meant I had to use every bit of spare time I had available to get things done - it was a true test of my time management skills! However, all the madness was worth it because when you love what you do, you find the time and prioritize - because in the end there is no better feeling that being a Miami HEAT Dancer! LET’S GO HEAT!
