ATLANTA -- Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford celebrated the healthy living environment created at Parkside Elementary School by visiting the campus on Thursday, Dec. 11.
Horford, a member of the NBA’s FIT Team, addressed over 400 third, fourth and fifth graders about the importance of eating properly and maintaining a healthy diet. The two-time NBA All-Star also toured school facilities and chatted with kindergartners.
The visit was done in conjunction with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program to celebrate efforts the elementary school has taken to improve the health quality of its students. Parkside won the Alliance’s National Healthy Schools Silver and Bronze Awards for their success in creating a healthier school.
