Memphis Grizzlies re-assign Jarnell Stokes to NBA Development League’s Iowa Energy

The Memphis Grizzlies re-assigned rookie forward/center Jarnell Stokes to the NBA Development League’s Iowa Energy, the Grizzlies’ exclusive D-League affiliate, the team announced today. Stokes will begin his third assignment with Iowa.

Stokes recorded 15 points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes in his Energy regular season debut on Dec. 2 at Fort Wayne. The 20-year-old has posted 20 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in 35 minutes over nine games with the Grizzlies this season.

The Memphis native was selected by the Utah Jazz in the second round (35th overall) of the 2014 NBA Draft after three seasons at the University of Tennessee (2011-14). Stokes then was traded to the Grizzlies on draft night for a 2016 second round draft pick.
