Iowa Energy announce coaching update

The Iowa Energy announced that Head Coach Bob Donewald, Jr. will not be returning next season.

“We want to thank Bob for his contributions to the Iowa Energy and Memphis Grizzlies over the past two seasons. Bob was a major part of the development of our players during his tenure and wish him the best as he moves on to new opportunities in the professional basketball world,” said Energy General Manager & Grizzlies Director of Basketball Operations Chris Makris.

Donewald compiled a 52-48 record with the Energy, including a 26-24 record during the 2015-16 season. During Donewald’s tenure, six different Energy players earned nine Call-Ups to the NBA, along with the Grizzlies assigning five players to develop with the Energy.

A search for the next head coach of the Energy will begin immediately.
