With World Autism Day earlier in the week and World Autism Month in April, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host their annual Autism Awareness Night this Thursday, April 5th.  In partnership with Cleveland Clinic Children’s and Autism Speaks Northeast Ohio Community the night aims to bring awareness to Autism and Autism care in our community.

There will be many supporting elements throughout Quicken Loans Arena that night, including:

FOR GUESTS WITH SENSORY PROCESSING NEEDS: 
Quicken Loans Arena teamed up with KultureCity to become the first NBA arena in the country certified as Sensory Inclusive. KultureCity is a non-profit organization dedicated to rethinking accessibility to create acceptance and inclusion for all individuals. The certification process included Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena full and part-time team member sensory awareness training, and the implementation of enhanced services that features a new Quiet Space Sensory Room. The new initiative promotes a positive and accommodating experience for all fans and guests with sensory sensitivities who attend events at The Q. Sensory bags, weighted lap pads and access to the sensory room are available upon request at both of the guest relations desks in The Q located behind section 100 on the main concourse and behind section 200 on the upper concourse. Cavs Hosting Autism Awareness Night on April 5th

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers will host their annual Autism Awareness Night on Tuesday (April 4th vs. Orlando). In partnership with Autism Speaks Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Clinic Children’s, the night aims to bring awareness to Autism and Autism care in our community.

The Q Becomes First NBA Arena Certified as Sensory Inclusive
Last week it was announced that The Q has teamed up with KultureCity to become the first NBA arena in the country certified by KultureCity as Sensory Inclusive. The certification process includes the Cavs and The Q full and part-time team member sensory awareness training, and the implementation of enhanced services that features a new Quiet Space Sensory Room. The new initiative will promote a positive and accommodating experience for all fans and guests with sensory sensitivities who attend events at The Q.  Sensory sensitivities or challenges with sensory regulation are often experienced by individuals with autism, dementia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other similar conditions. Cavs Hosting Autism Awareness Night on April 4th

Thursday, April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day and the Cleveland Cavaliers will join the rest of the NBA to “Light it Up Blue” that night when they host the Miami Heat at 8:00 p.m.  Thursday culminates the league’s sixth annual Autism Awareness Week, and the Cavs will do their part to recognize the cause by hosting Autism Awareness Night at their game that evening.

Fans will notice the traditional baby blue of Autism Awareness as they enter Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday, as the Arcade Entrance (corner of Huron and E. 6th Streets) will be lit in blue and have the well-known puzzle piece projected there.

There will be multiple ways for fans at The Q that night to show their support and learn more about the developmental brain disorders known as autism spectrum disorders, which affects 1 in 68 children in the United States:

Fans at Thursday’s game will also notice Cavs coaches, broadcasters and staff wearing Autism Awareness lapel pins.
