Chicago Bulls to host sixth annual "Go Green" game tonight

Mar. 23, 2015 - The Chicago Bulls will celebrate NBA Green Week with their annual “Go Green” night sponsored by Constellation at tonight’s game vs. the Charlotte Hornets. While supplies last, fans entering the stadium will receive a reusable Bulls Tumbler presented by Constellation.

During NBA Green Week (March 22 – March 29), the entire NBA family teams up to raise awareness around protecting the environment. To show their support, Bulls players will wear 100 percent organic cotton adidas shooting shirts featuring the NBA Green logo.

“Go Green Night is one of a number of ways our team and front office staff support eco-friendly initiatives, in addition to our United Center recycling program and annual community service project with Constellation and the Blackhawks,” said Scott Sonnenberg, vice president of corporate sales for the Chicago Bulls. “We have teamed with Constellation for NBA Green Week for six years. Their expertise, paired with our sustainability efforts, provides us the opportunity to educate fans and encourage them to take an active role in managing their energy use and protecting the environment.”

Constellation is in the fourth year of its existing five-year sponsorship with the Bulls. As part of the “Go Green” game, Constellation will purchase Green-e Energy Certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) to match the electricity use during the game. RECs represent the environmental benefit of electricity generated by wind and therefore avoid carbon dioxide emissions.

“Constellation is proud to sponsor our fourth year of ‘Go Green’ games with the Bulls and the Blackhawks,” said Bruce Stewart, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Constellation. “We encourage fans to continue their support of the environment through energy conservation and renewable energy resources. Residential customers can choose Constellation as their home energy supplier at home.constellation.com, and many can also choose to receive 100 percent wind energy.”

Throughout the game, energy tips from Constellation will be shown on the scoreboard to educate fans about how they can be more energy efficient. Benny the Bull will also “go green” and join in the festivities.

In conjunction with Constellation, the Bulls and Blackhawks will also team up for a special “Go Green” community effort this summer. More details about the greening event will be released at a later date.
