Bulls sign Bobby Portis

July 7, 2015 -- The Chicago Bulls announced today the signing of 2015 first round draft pick Bobby Portis. Chicago selected Portis with the 22st overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Portis a 6-11, 242-pound forward out of the University of Arkansas, joins the Bulls after wrapping up a two-year collegiate career with the Razorbacks. A native of Little Rock, Ark., Portis appeared in 70 games (all starts) where he averaged 15.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.49 bpg, 1.3 apg and 1.06 spg in 28.5 mpg. He also shot .526 from the field, .365 from behind the arc and .737 from the line.

This past season he was voted SEC Player of the Year and ranked second in the conference in scoring (17.5) and field goal percentage (.536) and fourth in rebounds (8.9). Portis was also the first player in Arkansas history to reach 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds by his sophomore season.

Portis will wear No. 5.
