Bulls players host holiday party for 100 local children
December 21, 2010 – On Sunday, December 19, the Chicago Bulls celebrated the giving season by hosting a holiday party for 100 local children at the Bulls training facility, the Berto Center.
In our efforts to spread holiday cheer, the Bulls partnered with the USO to invite 50 children whose parents are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan this holiday season or who have lost a loved one serving in the armed forces. The Bulls also invited 50 academic all-star students that live in CHA housing. The students were selected based on an essay, their attendance and GPA.
After practice, the children helped the players create holiday cards and videos to send to the troops and participated in other holiday activities. A photo booth and caricature artist were also available for everyone attending.
All the children received a gift from the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation and lunch was provided by Vienna Beef, Hinckley Springs and Edy's® Grand Ice Cream. Brian Scalabrine also made a financial contribution to purchase some of the toys and Kyle Korver donated some gym shoes and other clothing items to the kids.
