Bulls sign rookie guard Jimmy Butler

December 9, 2011 – The Chicago Bulls announced today the signing of 2011 first round draft pick Jimmy Butler. Chicago selected Butler with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Tomball, Texas native comes to Chicago following a successful three-year career at Marquette. While with the Golden Eagles, Butler (6-7, 220) played in 106 games (69 starts) and averaged 12.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.7 apg and 1.08 spg in 29.6 mpg. He also shot .508 from the field, .383 from behind the arc and .773 from the line. He left Marquette as one of 19 players in school history to post at least 1,000 points (1,277) and 500 rebounds (579). For his efforts, Butler was twice recognized as an All-Big East Honorable Mention selection.

Butler will wear No. 21.
