MILWAUKEE (Feb. 25, 2024)&nbsp;– For the&nbsp;sixth&nbsp;consecutive&nbsp;year, the Milwaukee Bucks and Pick ‘n Save have teamed up&nbsp;to&nbsp;donate&nbsp;$50,000 worth of food&nbsp;to&nbsp;local Milwaukee organizations and initiatives in support of Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative.

In lieu of in-kind, non-perishable food products, the Bucks and Pick ‘n Save are distributing the $50,000 in the form of Pick ‘n Save gift cards to help alleviate immediate food insecurity and access needs in the Milwaukee community. Throughout the season, the Bucks and Pick ‘n Save will donate to four different organizations to help alleviate hunger and access to food in the local community.

Bucks and Pick 'N Save Join Forces Again

The Bucks and Pick ‘n Save will tip off the&nbsp;sixth&nbsp;year&nbsp;of donations with a meal distribution event at Ascension Lutheran Church (1238 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee) on Monday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. The event will be held with The Gathering, a Bucks community partner that will be one of the four local organizations&nbsp;to&nbsp;receive part of the donation, and will be attended by Bucks forward MarJon Beauchamp and volunteers from the Bucks, Pick ‘n Save and Metro Market. Volunteers will provide a warm meal and sack lunch, and have experts available&nbsp;to&nbsp;speak about employment opportunities, prescription drug access and how&nbsp;to&nbsp;utilize grocery delivery provided by Kroger Delivery (with the option&nbsp;to&nbsp;utilize SNAP/EBT payment). “The Bucks are constantly seeking ways&nbsp;to&nbsp;give back&nbsp;to&nbsp;the community and through our partnership with Pick ‘n Save, we can continue this work by supporting those who are experiencing food insecurity,” said Arvind Gopalratnam, Bucks Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility. “We hope these gift cards provide all of the recipients with relief, support and access&nbsp;to&nbsp;food.”

In addition&nbsp;to&nbsp;The Gathering, the following three community groups will receive Pick ‘n Save gift cards courtesy of the Bucks and Pick ‘n Save as part of Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative.

Partners in Hope:&nbsp;The Partners in Hope organization is passionately dedicated&nbsp;to&nbsp;helping men, women and their families impacted by incarceration overcome social, economic and criminal justice system barriers. Gift cards will support those impacted individuals and their families.

MPS Late Night Leagues:&nbsp;Late Night Leagues offer a safe place for young adults aged 17-29&nbsp;to&nbsp;participate in either basketball or soccer leagues, while also connecting them with the many professional, leadership and life services throughout Milwaukee. Gift cards will support those participating in these leagues.

Teens Grow Greens:&nbsp;The Teens Grow Greens organization aims&nbsp;to&nbsp;develop teens through transformative experiences that promote belonging, life skills and connections&nbsp;to&nbsp;opportunities that grow leadership. Gift cards will support the youth involved in this program.

In addition&nbsp;to&nbsp;the gift cards, Pick ‘n Save and the Bucks will support these organizations through additional programming including nutrition education, additional food donations and job opportunities.

Media invited to cover final student presentations on Thursday, July 20 from 1-3 p.m. at We Energies STEM Center

MILWAUKEE (July 19, 2023) – The Milwaukee Bucks teamed up with Motorola, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) and Alive Milwaukee to host the second annual STEM camp from July 10-20 at We Energies STEM Center at MSOE. The camp introduces and teaches STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to select Alive Milwaukee students ages 13-18.

The camp centers on the development of apps on mobile devices, including a project supporting the Bucks app. Each student receives a new Motorola smartphone to help with the app project and works in teams to successfully share ideas and solutions to challenges. The teams will present their final idea to a panel at the end of the camp to understand what it means to take an idea through the prototype stage.

By the end of the camp, participants will be able to understand the work behind developing apps and mobile technologies, learn and implement designing for users and understand applications of code and other technologies such as virtual and augmented reality.

MSOE faculty are leading the camp with the help of special guests from the Bucks digital team and Motorola product experts. Students will learn about the various careers and courses of study available to them, notably in technology and technology-related fields.

The NBA today announced Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez as the Bob Lanier Community Assist Award winner for the 2022-23 season.&nbsp; Lopez is being recognized for his continued commitment to supporting youth literacy in Milwaukee.&nbsp; Lopez, the recipient of the March NBA Cares Community Assist Award, was named the winner of the season-culminating honor as determined by an NBA executive panel and a 12-day fan voting period on Jebbit.&nbsp; Lopez was selected among a pool of six other monthly Community Assist Award winners and three additional nominees selected by the NBA for their outstanding work in the community.

Since joining the Bucks in 2018, Lopez has made it his mission to make reading both fun and accessible.&nbsp; Throughout the season, Lopez contributed roughly $235,000 for books and funding in support of literacy initiatives within Milwaukee, Wisconsin.&nbsp; Lopez’s efforts are paramount in a state where only 39% percent of eighth-grade students are proficient or above in reading, and more specifically, within Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) where only 15% of&nbsp;fourth- and eighth-grade students are proficient or above in reading.&nbsp; The Bob Lanier Community Assist Award honors one player’s sustained efforts and difference-making work within their community over the course of the season.&nbsp;&nbsp;

As part of Lopez’s “Blocks for Books” program, Lopez donates $500 to&nbsp;Next Door&nbsp;for every block he records during the regular season in support of early childhood literacy.&nbsp; This season, Lopez donated $96,500 to Next Door as part of the program.&nbsp; Additionally, for the second consecutive year, Lopez partnered with&nbsp;Scholastic Book Fair&nbsp;to bring book fairs to five Milwaukee Public Schools.&nbsp; All five schools selected – Allen-Field, Bryant, Hayes Bilingual, Kilbourn and Pratt – are Title 1 schools that have never had a Scholastic Book Fair.&nbsp; Lopez’s contributions allowed each student at all five schools to select and keep five books, totaling close to 10,000 books for more than 2,000 students and roughly $75,000.&nbsp; Lopez also ensured that the schools were set up to receive Scholastic Dollars so they can purchase new books for the school libraries.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“Reading is a personal passion of mine that brings me joy and has played a key role in my success,” said Lopez.&nbsp; “Throughout my career, I have remained committed to supporting youth literacy initiatives because I know firsthand how important this skill is.&nbsp; Whether at home, in the locker room or on the road, reading has always played a significant role in my life.&nbsp; I want to ensure future generations are able to develop this skill too and fall in love with reading just as I have, especially kids in economically disadvantaged schools and communities.&nbsp; To be the recipient of the Bob Lanier Community Assist Award for my efforts in uplifting youth literacy in Milwaukee is truly an honor.&nbsp; Bob Lanier was committed to giving back in the Milwaukee community, so to be able to bring this award back to Milwaukee means so much to me and the Bucks organization.”

Lopez will be recognized as the Bob Lanier Community Assist Award winner&nbsp;during the June 28 broadcast of ESPN’s NBA Today.

The NBA Cares Community Assist Award honors the standard set by NBA Legend David Robinson, who improved the community piece by piece.&nbsp; Bob Lanier, a League Office executive and NBA Global Ambassador for more than 30 years, had an enormous influence on the NBA family and young people globally, traveling the world to teach the values of the game and making a positive impact through his kindness and generosity.&nbsp; The legacy he built will continue to live on through the season-long Community Assist Award recognition, which honors the next generation of players’ commitment to positively impacting their community throughout the NBA season.&nbsp;To learn more, please visit&nbsp;https://communityassist.nba.com/.

$500 to be donated to Silver Spring Neighborhood Center each game Bucks bench scores 30 points

The Milwaukee Bucks Foundation and We Energies Foundation are teaming up for the fourth consecutive season of the Bench Mob Bonus program. Throughout the 2022-23 NBA regular season, each game the Bucks bench scores 30 points or more $500 will be donated by the We Energies Foundation to Silver Spring Neighborhood Center.

Through 23 games, the donation stands at $6,000 with the Bucks bench putting up 30 or more points in 12 games so far this season. The Bucks bench is averaging 31.6 points per game this season.

“We thank the We Energies Foundation for teaming up with the Bucks Foundation for a fourth year to help support Silver Spring Neighborhood Center in its effort to positively impact our community,” said Arvind Gopalratnam, Bucks Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Silver Spring Neighborhood Center serves families on Milwaukee’s north side by helping with education, employment, youth services and health and wellness. The funds will be used for its Layups and Literacy program, which layers reading comprehension, socialization and life lessons with offensive drills and defensive fundamentals to engage youth ages 10 to 12 on the court and in the classroom and provide academic, athletic and mentoring opportunities to young people.

Support for this season’s program tips off with mentor event at Fiserv Forum on Oct. 25

The Milwaukee Bucks and Kohl’s are partnering for the second consecutive season to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee’s Youth of the Year Program. The Youth of the Year Program, which empowers Club youth by teaching them to lead meaningful change in themselves, others and their communities, has been the Boys & Girls Clubs’ signature leadership development program, with a legacy of celebrating and rewarding youth’s accomplishments for more than 70 years.

After supporting the Youth of the Year program for the first time together last season, the Bucks and Kohl’s are furthering their support for the program this NBA season. Thirteen youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs will participate in this season’s Youth of the Year Program, which will include mentoring initiatives, shopping experiences and an appreciation night during the upcoming Bucks regular season.

The Bucks and Kohl’s will tip off their support of this season’s program with a Mentor Meet Up Engagement Event at Fiserv Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 25. During the event, each youth participating in the program will be paired with a mentor from either the Bucks or Kohl’s, who they will work with throughout the duration of this season’s program. The event will also include a Q&A with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Bucks and Kohl’s leadership.

The Bucks and Kohl’s support of Youth of the Year will continue in November with a shopping experience at Kohl’s for each of the 13 participants. Each youth will receive $500 in Kohl’s gift cards to spend, and they’ll be joined by Bucks guard Grayson Allen who will help them throughout their shopping trip. The shopping experience is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Kohl’s store in Bayshore Mall.

Finally, in March, the Bucks and Kohl’s will honor and highlight the 13 participants in the Youth of the Year Program during a Bucks game at Fiserv Forum. Each participant will receive tickets to the game and highlights from this season’s program will be shown throughout the arena. The 13 participants will also be individually honored.
