In 1977, Julius Erving and the Philadelphia 76ers squared off against Bill Walton and the Portland Trail Blazers, a series in which Erving posted his career postseason scoring high when he dropped 40 points on June 5, 1977.
Since 1970, the Sixers hold the edge over the Blazers in regular season play with a record of 64-61 through 125 games. They’ve met once in the postseason during the 1977 NBA Finals. Memorable matchups over the years have included Charles Barkley going up against Clyde Drexler and Tyrese Maxey going head-to-head with Damian Lillard.
The 76ers and Trail Blazers faced off in two games during the 2023-24 season. Their first matchup on October 29 was the home opener in Philadelphia, where the 76ers beat the Trail Blazers 126-98. Their second and final matchup on January 29 in Portland resulted in a 76ers loss.
The Sixers and Trail Blazers met for the first time in the 2024-25 season on December 30 in Portland, resulting in a 125-103 victory for the Sixers. Joel Embiid recorded 37 points and nine rebounds. The 76ers hosted the Trail Blazers for their final matchup of the season on March 3 in South Philadelphia and fell 102-119. Andre Drummond scored 25 points and nabbed 18 rebounds.
The 2025-26 season includes two contests between Philadelphia and Portland. Their first matchup of the season on February 9 is on the road in Portland. The Sixers host the Trail Blazers on Sunday, March 15.
