The NBA announced today that Wizards point guard John Wall has been named the Eastern Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month for March. Wall led all Eastern Conference rookies in assists (8.6 apg) and steals (1.7 spg) in March while his 18.1 ppg ranked him second in scoring to teammate Jordan Crawford (18.2 ppg). He has now become the first player in franchise history to win Rookie of the Month honors in three straight months.

Wall posted a 32-point, 10-assist, five-rebound effort on March 23 at the L.A. Clippers, becoming the first Washington rookie to record those numbers since Earl Monroe in 1968. Other highlights included a 28-point, seven-assist, six-rebound night in the team’s win at Utah on March 26 and 26 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals in a win over New Jersey on March 20. Wall posted his highest monthly scoring (18.1 ppg) and rebounding (4.5 rpg) numbers of the season during March.
