Wale To Perform At Wizards Tip-Off

WASHINGTON, D.C. –The Washington Wizards will host a Season Tip-Off event and open practice at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University on Tuesday, Oct. 9. D.C. native and Warner Bros. Records /Maybach Music Group recording artist Wale, the Wizard Girls, G-Man and the Secret Service Dunk Team and the GMU band are all scheduled to perform. The Season Tip-Off event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will feature player introductions, giveaways and special contests.

“We are excited to be back at George Mason University for training camp this year and we are looking forward to hosting our Tip-Off event for the GMU student body and public at the Patriot Center,” Wizards Executive Vice President of Business Operations Greg Bibb stated. “With the open practice, player introductions, on-court contests, giveaways, Wizard Girls performances and a special appearance by Wale, we believe there is something for everyone. We look forward to celebrating the start of the season with our fans on October 9.”

The first 1,500 fans will receive t-shirts courtesy of the Wizards while the first 500 fans to arrive will receive a free sandwich courtesy of Chick-Fil-A. In addition, Dunkin Donuts will provide 1,000 iced coffee cups. Fans will have a chance to win a pair of VIP tickets and a meet and greet with a Wizards player. Six GMU students will also have a chance to partner with a Wizard player and Wale for a contest to win free books for a semester. The Season Tip-Off event is free and open to the public.

The Wizards’ home opener is scheduled for Nov. 3 against the Boston Celtics. Single-game tickets for the 2012-13 season will go on sale Friday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at 1-800-745-3000, on WashingtonWizards.com and at all local Ticketmaster outlets, including the Verizon Center box office. In addition, from 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, the Wizards will again pay all convenience fees for individual tickets purchased (excluding processing and delivery fees).
