Melissa Rentz to Join Monumental Sports & Entertainment Front Office

Washington Wizards Executive Vice President and Mystics Chief Operating Officer Greg Bibb announced today the appointment of Melissa (Missy) Rentz as Vice President of Marketing for the Washington Wizards and Mystics.

“We are pleased to welcome Missy to the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics,” stated Bibb. “She brings a wealth of experience and talent to the organization and will be invaluable to the development of the Wizards and Mystics brands.”

Rentz brings over 10 years of marketing experience to the Monumental Sports & Entertainment organization. She recently spent the last three years as director of advertising and branding for the Houston Texans and its sister company, Lone Star Entertainment, and was recently promoted to director of marketing. Rentz was responsible for the strategic development and implementation of the Texans brand in the Houston community while overseeing marketing initiatives for events at Reliant Stadium. In 2008, she was named the AMA Houston Marketer of the Year.

“It is a great time to be part of the Washington Wizards and Mystics organization,” said Rentz. “I am really excited to return to the metropolitan area to work with the Monumental Sports & Entertainment ownership group, Greg Bibb and the staff to market the teams and grow their fan base.”

Prior to joining the Texans, Rentz was the founder and owner of Fusion Marketing, LLC, where she created and executed business and marketing plans for clients. She got her start as promotion manager with washingtonpost.com. Her next stop was with the Washington Capitals where she spent five years at the team’s advertising and promotions manager. A native of Winchester, VA, Rentz graduated from George Mason University in 1998 with a BA in communications.
