The Washington Wizards announced today that they have selected DC native Ralph Wesley as the team’s new public address announcer. Wesley was selected from a pool of over 200 applicants. 50 finalists were invited to audition on Monday, September 13, for Monumental Sports Majority Owner, Chairman and CEO Ted Leonsis, Wizards Executive Vice President of Business Operations and Mystics Chief Operating Officer Greg Bibb and Wizards and Mystics Senior Director of Game Operations Danny Zollars. Following two rounds of competition, Wesley emerged as the winner over four other finalists.

“We were overwhelmed by the number of applicants for our public address announcer position,” stated Bibb. “We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the candidates who participated in the live audition process. Ironically at the end of the day, despite a wide search and thorough process, we felt that the best candidate was a familiar candidate and we are excited to have Ralph as the new voice of Washington Wizards home games.”

Wesley has served as the public address announcer for numerous organizations including the Washington Mystics, Delaware State University and the Atlantic 10 conference.

“First of all, I am blessed to have this opportunity,“ said Wesley. “This is something I do not take lightly and I look forward to being a part of a new era within the Washington Wizards organization.”
