2010 Wizards Draft Guide
The Wizards have two first round picks and one second round pick in the upcoming draft.
The Wizards first pick in Round 1 will be decided on May 18th at the 2010 Draft Lottery. The Wizards have a 10.3% chance of winning the lottery.
The Wizards second pick in Round 1 is the 30th overall pick. The Wizards acquired the pick from the Cavaliers in a three-team trade.
The last time Washington had the 30th overall selection in the Draft (1993), the team drafted Gheorghe Muresan. Muresan played four years for the franchise and had his best season in 1995-96 when he won the NBA's Most Improved Player award as he averaged 14.5 points per game, 9.6 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks per game.
The last time the Wizards had two first round picks was in 2002. In that draft, the Wizards selected Jared Jeffries (11th overall) and Juan Dixon (17th overall).
The Wizards will either have the 4th (34th overall) or 5th (35th overall) pick in the second round. If the Wizards finish ahead of the Golden State Warriors in the lottery they will pick 35th, if they finish behind the Warriors in the lottery they will pick 34th.
Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld drafted Michael Redd in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft while with Milwaukee. Grunfeld also selected Andray Blatche with the 49th pick in 2005.
* The NBA Draft was reduced to the current two-round format in 1989
