Raptors Set Roster For Opening Night
October 25, 2010
The Toronto Raptors announced Monday their roster for Wednesday’s regular season opener against the New York Knicks at Air Canada Centre. In accordance with league rules, all teams were required to reduce their training camp rosters to a maximum of 15 players by 6 p.m. today.
Each team will be required to carry 12 players on its active list and one player on its inactive list. Teams may have a maximum of three players on its inactive list. There is no injured list - a player’s designation can be changed from inactive to active on a game-to-game basis. Players sent to the NBA Development League will continue to count on a team’s inactive list.
Guard Marcus Banks, forward Ed Davis (right meniscus surgery) and centre Solomon Alabi have been listed as inactive for the purpose of submitting today’s roster.
In accordance with League rules forward-centre Joey Dorsey, who is suspended by the NBA for one game as a result of an incident that occurred during a preseason contest against the Chicago Bulls, must remain on the active roster for the term of his suspension.
The upcoming campaign marks the Raptors’ 16th season in the NBA. They sport a 9-6 mark in season openers. The Raptors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 101-91, at Air Canada Centre in last season’s opener.
The Raptors face the Cavaliers at Air Canada Centre on Friday before heading to California, Utah and Oregon for a four-game road trip.
