Adidas Eurocamp Recap: Day 2

Tarik El-tyeb for Raptors.com

Day 2 of the adidas Eurocamp brought a drastic improvement in the quality of basketball being played. This can be attributed to familiarity of the players with each other and the environment. With that, the players with better reputations coming in started to show why they were considered among the top prospects in attendance.

Here's my take on the top guard, wing player and big man from Day 2 in Treviso:

Guard: Vasa Micic

- 6’5 PG- 20 years old- Played last season with Mega Vizura of the Serbian league-  Draft Projection: Late 1st/Early Second

What he did to impress:

-  Extremely creative in pick and roll situations both with scoring and play making-  Showed the ability to quarterback a team on the court-  Displayed a good 3pt shooting touch

Additional Notes: Despite his creative offensive game Vasa lacks the physical tools and aggression to be an effective defender and will struggle at that end of the floor at the next level. His offensive game will earn him an opportunity but he will need to improve from being a defensive liability to earn himself any long-term success in the NBA.

Wing: Nemanja Dangubic

- 6’8 SG/SF- 21 years old-  Played last season with Mega Vizura of the Serbian League-  Draft Projection: 2nd Round

What he did to impress:

-  Consistently moved very well without the ball and was able to exploit the defense by finding openings-  Uses his length and athleticism very well on the defensive side of the ball-  Showed a nice shooting stroke although will have to continue to develop this to become a consistent 3-point threat-  Rebounded the ball very well at both ends

Additional Notes: Nemanja impressed everyone in attendance with his movement and activity on both sides of the ball. Also displayed a high level of athleticism -- measuring very well in all of the athletic testing including a 40-inch max vertical. With his size and athleticism his potential is higher than most prospects in attendance. He will need to continue to work on his ball handling and shooting touch to become more effective as a secondary ball handler.

Big: Johannes Voigtmann

- 7’0 C-  22 years old-  Played Last season with Frankfurt Skyliners of the German League-  Draft Projection: Undrafted

What he did to impress:

-  Showed an refined touch around the basket-  Solid offensive post package and very good footwork-  Displayed a consistent mid-range shooting touch-  Uses positioning and size well when rebounding-  Good mobility but lacks athleticism to be an elite rim protector

Additional Notes: Johannes was the best post player today showing a great footwork and the ability to score in the post through contact. He rebounded the ball very well despite his lack of athleticism. His lack of foot speed will limit him at the next level, however he uses his body well and is smart about his positioning so he could be successful at the next level. He would make a nice summer league addition in order to test him against more athletic players.
