Postgame Quotes - January 21, 2015

DETROIT PISTONS HEAD COACH STAN VAN GUNDY:  (On maintaining lead): “It’s a learning experience. We have a lot more experience this year playing from behind than we do from ahead. Our defense in the second half wasn’t good at all. We did a great job after they got the game back to two. We gathered ourselves really well and played very well down the stretch. It’s another learning experience. To come back with a double-digit victory was a good step forward. We have become a team that is starting to close games pretty well.”

(On Brandon Jennings): “He (Brandon Jennings) was phenomenal tonight. He was getting to the lane and making plays. He was making his shots when he got them. Great bounce back. He had a tough game in Atlanta, but came back tonight and was great.”

(On Tom Gores addressing players): “He (Tom Gores) talked to the guys about how proud he was of them. That they didn’t give up on the season at 5-and-23. He’s proud of the way they’re representing the organization and how they’re representing the city; that they’ve continued to fight.”

DETROIT PISTONS GUARD BRANDON JENNINGS:  (On his game tonight vs. Magic): "It was definitely the five assists (on the first five baskets of the game) that got me going.  Once I got in the lane, and I knew I could be in the lane all night, I just started picking my poison."

(On his teammates play tonight vs. Magic): "Finding guys, guys are getting easy shots; guys are making shots, like I said, just picking my poison.  It was one of those nights where you're like I'm close to 19 (assists) I better get 20.  I knew at the half I had 11, and then I got word so why not try to go for 20."

DETROIT PISTONS FORWARD GREG MONROE:  (On his play in the first half tonight vs. Magic): "I was just rolling (off of pick-and-rolls).  Brandon (Jennings) and D.J. (Augustin) were doing a good job of finding me on the roll.  I was just playing off of them."

(On Brandon Jennings' game tonight vs. Magic): "He's been playing well for a while now.  He's just finding everybody, everybody's making shots, he was getting people easy shots.  He's been playing at a high level for a while, and tonight was just exposure as far as assists go.”

ORLANDO MAGIC HEAD COACH JACQUE VAUGHN:  (On Orlando’s defense versus Pistons): "I think overall we want to give up certain shots throughout the course of the game. They ended up making 10 threes. We probably could have limited that to six and that could have been the difference, but we scored enough tonight."

(On Piston's four-point play): "Just a tough call for us. A four-point play on a 3-point attempt and so that took it up to six pretty quick. Our guys - they fought tonight and it was good to have everyone a part of it."

(On Orlando's defense): "I think we were just trying to settle in. We missed some shots early in the game which kind of let them get in transition a little bit. We couldn't get settled enough like we wanted to. I thought overall we were just adjusting to them getting downhill a little bit. Made some adjustments at halftime and gave ourselves a chance.”

ORLANDO MAGIC FORWARD TOBIAS HARRIS: (On Piston's performance): "Fundamentally, they stick to what they do best. It was definitely a tough loss."

(On his game versus Pistons): "It took a little bit to get going out there in the first half. Just playing my game, kept hustling and kept going hard. I love this game so I'm going to play it to the best of my ability."

(On making fourth quarter comeback): "We just kept encouraging everybody. That's what I'm going to continue to do."
