Postgame Quotes - February 26, 2011

(On game) “I thought we had a good first half. We did a good job on the boards. The second half we just had a nice flow both quarters. I thought even the third quarter you score 25 points the problem is they had 31. I liked what I saw from the team. To win games you have to have people who are like unsung heroes. You get a guy like Max (Jason Maxiell) who came in there and did a great job on Jefferson on a couple possessions where we needed him and he got a big steal for us. DaJuan Summers came into the game and hit some big jumpers. He gave us a big lift hitting a big three in the corner also. Will Bynum having eight assists, that’s huge coming off the bench. Those kinds of contributions from our second group is huge. Greg Monroe was phenomenal I thought 16 rebounds and 12 points. This is his fourth double-double in a row this is the second time he has done that this season. He’s just so active for a guy that a lot of us early on said how is he going to rebound? We’re finding out that he can rebound with anybody. Rodney Stuckey had a monster game, 28 points eight assist and one turnover.”

(On the nine man lineup) “There was a cohesiveness that we haven’t had. There was an energy that we haven’t had on a consistent basis. I tip my hat off to these guys, they were in to the game, played hard and it’s amazing because sometimes you’re not going to execute the right way but when you play with energy and you play with intelligence which we took care of ball throughout the game good things will happen.”

(On Daye) “That young man will come up with big plays. I think he had 13 second half points. That was important because he hit key shots. He’s going to get stronger and stronger but the length he has he came up with rebounds and I expect him to get certain rebounds but the ball gets tipped out of his hands and he’ll learn from that. Early on he struggled but he fought through it and I stuck with him.”Pistons Guard Will Bynum

(On The Game) “It was fun. Tonight I think we played with a whole lot of energy. I thought the roles were much simpler today, everyone knew what to do once they got out there and what to expect. We shot the ball well and I think the effort, more than anything, on the defensive end, was really gave us a shot to win the game.”

(On being on the court with Rodney Stuckey and Ben Gordon) “Teams are used to us playing half-court, but when we're out there we like to run it. You can tell by the 120 points we put up that it's tough to guard. When me, Ben (Gordon) and Stuckey are out there we can all attack the paint and shoot it and it's tough to guard.”Pistons Forward Greg Monroe

(On the importance of winning games) “Winning is important to us right now. Every game. We're trying to win every game. There's no single game that's different than any other game.”

(On the game) “We were close tonight, but we broke down a couple of times defensively and there was some rotation late in the game that was mine and I just kind of fell asleep on it and I think that we just had enough of those tonight that it cost us the game, attention to detail.”

(On Pistons hitting shots) “Off the top I’d say it was pick-and-roll, they were spreading us out well and it was difficult to stop that. They all took their turns tonight hitting big shots.”

(On losing to Pistons) “Any game is tough to lose and right now we are just looking for something good to happen so that we can start feeling good about ourselves. With all the changes that are going on, games are still going on and we still have a chance to make the playoffs and we want to make the most of that. So, these are the kind of games we need to win, but they played hard tonight.”Jazz Guard Raja Bell

(On tough loss) “Yeah, that was a tough game. I think that we all understood that they were going to be dangerous tonight. In this league it is funny that when guys have their backs up against a wall and undermanned they are dangerous. Also, some of these guys have something to prove out there. They haven’t played a lot this year and they feel like this is their opportunity to step up and they made the most of it tonight.”
