Dance For The Detroit Pistons In 2012-13

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons dance team is looking for dancers who are talented, outgoing and energetic when auditions are held for the 2012-13 Detroit Pistons Dancers on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Dance team members perform during games and at halftime alongside some of the biggest names in music including Taio Cruz, Flo Rida, Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, Gladys Knight and Hammer.

“Like all our performance teams, the experience around being a member of the Detroit Pistons Dancers has been elevated to a level unmatched at any other time franchise’s history,” said Harlan Hendrickson, Vice President of Marketing for Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Pistons. “Our dancers have the opportunity to perform with grammy-award winning artists and learn from top choreographers in the industry.”

Dancers will be judged on dance ability, athleticism, personality, self-confidence, and the ability to be a team player -- qualities that embody being a Detroit Pistons Dancer. Participants must be 18 years or older by October 1, 2012.

All participants are required to wear dance attire and must submit a headshot and resume at registration. Registration is set for Saturday, July 28 at 8:00 a.m. in the West Atrium and initial auditions will begin at 9:00 a.m. The preliminary round will consist of two sets of choreography - one jazz short routine and one hip hop routine. Dancers will learn the first routine and audition in groups of eight in front of a panel of judges before the first cuts are made. Dancers will then learn a second routine and audition in smaller groups in front of the judges. Dancers who make it through the second round of cuts will advance to the semi-finals which will be held on Sunday, July 29.
