Pelicans-Suns Postgame: Locker Room Quotes 11/22/15

Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry:

On the win:
"That Phoenix team was a real quality team. I think they have won four out of five. They're really, really, really difficult to defend. As I said earlier, those two guards are as good as any backcourt in the NBA right now. I thought we did a great job on Knight in the first half. It was just a matter of time. He went 0 for 8. He's not going to go 0-for the night. He got off a little bit. But I thought for the most part, and this sounds a little bit crazy because I didn't look at their score...118? I don't know, but I thought we did a good job defensively for the most part. They shot the three real well, but I think they shot less than forty percent for the game. So we were good there. Offensively, we did a good job of moving the basketball and taking opportunities. I thought Anthony was great. Once again, I thought Ryan stepped up and really stood out. I thought Ish did a really good job of taking opportunities and when they tried to go under him, he drove the ball to the basket. It's a good win for us as we try to continue to get healthy and find a way to win some games, until we get all their players back."

On the end of the game:
"We had a breakdown on the one out-of-bounds play with Tucker, but all the other ones we defended great. When we needed stops, we came up with them. I can't tell you how tough that backcourt is that they have. They are really difficult to defend, especially Bledsoe. They are always playing downhill. They set high screens and are coming downhill; and most of the time they are coming at your big guys. That's really tough for big guys. We did as good of a job as you can, and found a way to come up with big stops when we needed them."

Pelicans Forward Ryan Anderson:

On if this is the most confident he has felt shooting in a three-game stretch his whole career:
"I just feel comfortable, I feel good. I feel like we’re all kind of getting in a rhythm and playing together and moving the ball. I’m taking open shots. We’re moving the ball to find the right guys and they found me within this offense. We’re just getting it. I just feel good now and I’m just glad we’re winning. That’s what’s the most important here, that we got another win."

On his second quarter performance:
“We were just on a roll as a group, as a unit. We made stops, and in transition it’s just hard to guard us. I know I got open looks there, but I know down the line that other guys got looks in that stretch because we played really good defense. Throughout the game we played great defense and it showed on the other end. That’s something we knew we needed to do with this team, really push it on them and get open looks. It’s just great basketball and it’s fun. It doesn’t matter who scores in a system like that. We’re playing it to the fullest right now and it feels good.”
