September 22, 2010

The New Orleans Hornets and 24-hour regional sports network Cox Sports Television have announced the 2010-11 broadcast schedule that will feature 65 live regular season home and away Hornets games, including a record number of 40 in High Definition on CST HD. CST is local channel 37 in New Orleans.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue our strong relationship with CST in providing 65 regular season games to our fans in New Orleans and the state of Louisiana,” said Hornets President Hugh Weber. “We are anxious to get the season underway and for our fans to see all the positive changes we have made with our team and organization.”

The schedule, which includes 41 home and 24 road games, begins with the Wednesday, Oct. 27 home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks and concludes with the last game of the regular season on Wednesday, Apr. 13 vs. the Dallas Mavericks.

"Cox Sports Television is thrilled to be entering into our ninth season of Hornets basketball" stated CST head Rod Mickler. "The Hornets fans across the Gulf South are anxious for another year of exciting basketball and we can't wait to tip-off our exclusive 65 game schedule on October 27!"

Highlights of the schedule include an early look at the Miami Heat trio of Dwyane Wade, Lebron James and Chris Bosh on Nov. 5 in New Orleans and Dec. 13 in Miami, the Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics (Dec. 31, Mar. 19), all three games against the defending World Champion Los Angeles Lakers (Jan. 7, Feb. 5, Mar. 27) and all four series matchups against division foes Memphis, Houston and Dallas. Included in this year’s schedule is every February contest airing on CST with two being broadcasted on NBATV.

Bob Licht and Gil McGregor return to their duties as play-by-play and color analyst, with Victor Howell reprising his role as sideline reporter in 2010. Licht begins his sixth year with CST, while McGregor will call his 23rd season of Hornets basketball.

Before each game, the network will air “Hornets Tonight,” a 30-minute show covering the most recent developments in the NBA, features on the Hornets and organization and a preview of the game that night.

Also making its debut this year is Hornets Coaches Report, a weekly half-hour program where he will delve into the previous week’s games and look ahead to what’s next.

The Hornets have also come to agreements with 15 radio affiliates in the Gulf Coast region to broadcast all regular season, pre-season and post-season games, including the Hornets flagship station in New Orleans on 100,000-watt KMEZ 106.7 FM and the Baton Rouge flagship station WXOK 1460 AM.

For the third season in a row, all Hornets home games will also be broadcast in Spanish on WFNO 830 AM.

The broadcast team is led by Sean Kelley, who will begin his sixth season as the team’s play-by-play voice, while veteran color analyst Gerry Vaillancourt begins his 21st season with the Hornets. Joe Block returns for his fourth season as studio host and will host all pre-game and post-game radio shows. The “Hornets OT” post-game show will broadcast directly following Hornets home games.CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE FULL 2010-11 HORNETS SCHEDULE
