What does sixth-year Hornets forward Rasual Butler like to do when he’s not playing basketball? Hornets TV analyst Gil McGregor sat down with the Philadelphia native and La Salle product to find out more about his interests away from the game of hoops.
Favorite thing about New Orleans:
“I love the food and the people here. I’m from Philadelphia, so I’m a history buff, too. I’m going to really enjoy being here.”
Favorite New Orleans food:
“Without a shadow of a doubt, it is the fried crab claws from the Acme Oyster House.”
Favorite movies:
Scarface, Goodfellas, the Godfather trilogy, Hoodlum. “All the gangster movies.”
Favorite actors:
Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson.
Who he’d like to play Rasual Butler in a movie:
Denzel Washington. “I’d pick him because he gives people the passion (in a character). Being an inner-city kid, I think he can relate to the things I went through.”
Favorite actresses:
Scarlett Johansson, Halle Barry.
Favorite superhero:
Superman.
Superpower he’d like to have:
The ability to fly.
His three wishes:
“One, for there to be world peace. Two, to be as close as I can be to becoming a man of God. Three, to have financial freedom.”
What he’d be doing if he weren’t an NBA player:
“I’d want to be an entrepreneur. I want to use basketball to set up my life so that after basketball, I’ll never have to work for anyone besides myself.”
Professions he wouldn’t want to do:
“Anything that would have me in a cubicle. Anything where I have to sit down and I can’t fit under the desk [Butler is 6-foot-7]. I also wouldn’t want to work in sanitation.”
