“I’m just taking it a step at a time,” Evans said of trying to return to the floor four days after initially receiving the painful injury. The fifth-year NBA veteran said he is experiencing discomfort when he tries to do some of his dribble moves. He participated in Pelicans shootaround today in non-contact aspects of the practice.

“I can move up and down, side to side. We’re going to see (if I can play),” Evans said. “I went through everything except contact. Everything’s fine shooting.”

The swingman raised the possibility of sitting out for a period of time in order to be 100 percent. Including tonight, New Orleans (21-27) has four games remaining before the All-Star break, then will get from Feb. 13-18 without a game.

“It’s a pain tolerance (issue),” Evans said. “Maybe if it doesn’t get better, I will take time off, let it heal and just rest. But I’m going to try to go tonight and see how it feels.”
