Five things to know on Day 19 in Las Vegas
1) New Orleans’ three USA Basketball player invitees wrapped up the week in excellent fashion Thursday, combining for 43 points and 16 rebounds in an exhibition game on the UNLV campus. Anthony Davis (22 points, 7 rebounds), Jrue Holiday (12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) and Ryan Anderson (9 points, 3-for-3 on three-pointers) each made notable contributions.
3) White team Coach Monty Williams also gave his postgame assessments in this Pelicans.com video, complimenting Holiday’s versatility after the first game Williams got to coach the point guard.
4) The team’s extended July stretch in the Las Vegas desert has finally reached its conclusion. After NBA Summer League and a memorable USA Basketball minicamp, the entire Pelicans contingent will be back in New Orleans, where the focus shifts to preparations for the 2013-14 NBA season. That doesn’t mean there will be much of a lull in news, however. There are numerous significant events dotting the calendar in August and September we’ll be covering extensively on Pelicans.com.
5) The Thursday edition of the “Black and Blue Report” online radio show was highlighted by a guest appearance from Holiday. Holiday: “I’m really excited to start the season.”
