Rondae Thanks the Fans

The Brooklyn Brigade stood and cheered until the final horn in Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets’ season finale.

In unison, they chanted, “Thank you, Brooklyn” clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. “Thank you, Brooklyn,” clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.

It was a gesture from the team’s biggest fans, and even on a night when the Nets fell to 21-61, Barclays Center was alive, the faithful singing the praises of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Sean Kilpatrick and even Mr. Whammy.

The dedicated fans and the atmosphere they created weren’t lost on the Nets, especially Hollis-Jefferson.

“It meant a lot,” he said. “For us to have a losing season and for our fans to still be here cheering us on, it means a lot to us, to the players, especially. For us, the outcome should have been different, but we fight, we fight hard every night and it’s definitely for the fans. That means a lot to all of us. I’m speaking for all of us. It means a lot.”

Hollis-Jefferson and the Nets put on a show on Wednesday, getting the crowd up for blocks, dunks and a good effort. The rookie took the mic at center court before the game.

“We look forward to building and getting better this summer,” he said. “Stick with us.”

And when the final buzzer sounded and the fans stood and thanked their Brooklyn team, it was clear Rondae and the Nets can count on them being back next season.
