On Thursday, Jeopardy! featured an answer that many Sacramento Kings fans are proud to have been a part of.

Contestant Jim Coder, a research associate from Bellefonte, PA, chose the category “Indoors” and was given the answer “A record indoor crowd roar came in 2013 when the Sacramento Kings reached 126 of these sound units”.

On November 15, 2013 Kings fans broke the Guinness World Record for Loudest Indoor Crowd Roar when 17,317 of the Sacramento faithful reached 126.0 dBA in between the third and fourth quarters. The previous record of 106.6 dBA was set by Milwaukee Bucks fans in 2008.

The noted Jeopardy “super champ" Hunter Appler correctly stated the question of “What are decibels?”

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Mission accomplished AGAIN.

With the eyes of ESPN’s national television audience focused on Sleep Train Arena Friday night, Sacramento Kings fans broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® record for the Loudest Crowd Roar at an Indoor Sports Stadium.

The sell-out crowd of 17,317 reached 126.0 dBA in between the third and fourth quarters, topping the previous world record set earlier in the game.

Before tonight, the previous world record of 106.6 dBA was set by Milwaukee Bucks fans in 2008.

A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® adjudicator presented the Kings with a certificate for the record.

Kings Fans Break GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® Record for Loudest Indoor Crowd Roar

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Kings fans recently took to Twitter to raise ground support for breaking the world record for indoor crowd noise when the team hosts the Detroit Pistons on November 15.

During the game, broadcasted nationally on ESPN, Kings fans will try to officially break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® record for the “Loudest Crowd Roar at an Indoor Sports Stadium.” Fans will have three tries to break the record.

A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS official will be on site. If successful, the judge will immediately award a certificate to our fans. The official will be available for interviews. The current record is held by Milwaukee Bucks fans, who recorded a level of 106.6 dBA at the Bradley Centre in on December 20, 2008.
