The 2010s-themed game night is the final of five Decade Night celebrations recognizing 50 seasons of the franchise, presented by Delta Air Lines

In celebration of the 50th season of Jazz basketball, the Utah Jazz will continue their Decade Night series at Delta Center on March 12 against the Boston Celtics. With a spotlight on the 2010s, festivities will include in-arena entertainment influenced by the decade, a special alt-cast on Jazz+ featuring Jazz alumni Trevor Booker, Al Jefferson, and Ronnie Price, and other activations.&nbsp;

After a transformative 2000s decade, the Jazz set out to embrace a new generation of talented coaches and players throughout the 2010s that would fuel a new chapter in the team’s storied history.

Hall of Fame Head Coach Jerry Sloan ended his tenure with the Jazz in 2011 after 23 seasons at the helm and coaching a combined 1,223 regular and postseason games, and was followed by new head coaches, Tyrone Corbin (2011-14) and Quin Snyder (2014-22). The Jazz continued their competitive streak and made the postseason four times (2012, 2017, 2018, and 2019) during the decade, posting an overall record of 370-352.  Prior to the 2010-11 NBA season, Utah acquired standout big man Al Jefferson who spent three seasons with the franchise. He owned averages of 18.5 points on 49.4 percent from the field, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks and was an All-NBA Third Team selection in 2013-14. In the 2010 NBA Draft, the Jazz selected Gordon Hayward with the ninth overall pick, and the forward spent seven seasons with Utah, earning an All-Star selection in 2016-17 and helping the Jazz to the Western Conference Semifinals that same season. 

Jazz center Rudy Gobert was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2017-18 and 2018-19 with guard Donovan Mitchell bursting onto the scene in 2017-18, as runner-up for Rookie of the Year, helping Utah to two playoff appearances in the decade in 2018 and 2019, setting the table for the next era of Jazz basketball.

Fans who subscribe to Jazz+ have another exclusive opportunity to enjoy the March 12 game alongside celebrated alumni and Jazz personalities through a special alt-cast – available only to subscribers of the team’s streaming service, featuring&nbsp; Jazzmen from the 2010s - Trevor Booker, Al Jefferson, and Ronnie Price - alongside current Jazz TV Host Alema Harrington and TV analyst Mike Smith.

Booker, known for his highlight reel moments including spectacular dunks and the memorable behind-the-back shot, emerged as a pivotal figure in Utah’s growth and was known for his leadership on the young emerging team. Jefferson quickly established himself as a powerhouse in the league, earning All-Rookie honors in 2004-05. During his three-year tenure with the Utah Jazz, he left his mark ranking eighth all-time for the franchise in points per game and fifth in rebounds per game. Signed to the Utah Jazz as a free agent in 2007, Price appeared in 113 games and became only the second Utah Valley University graduate to play in the NBA. He was inducted into the Utah Valley University Hall of Fame in 2010.&nbsp;

Utah Jazz x Stanley Decade-Night Collaboration

During the 2010s-themed Decade Night, the Utah Jazz and Stanley will release five limited-edition 40 oz. Charcoal Quenchers, each adorned with a prominent Utah Jazz logo from the decade it represents. Designed to honor the rich history of Jazz basketball, only 50 pieces of each decade-themed tumbler will be available for purchase, and each tumbler will have a laser-engraved serial number indicating its exclusivity in the 50-piece run.&nbsp;

The limited-edition tumblers will be available for purchase to ticketed fans attending the game. Each fan will be limited to one Utah Jazz x Stanley Quencher for each of the five decades.&nbsp;

The giveaway item on March 12 will be the last of five collectible posters. The limited-edition 2010s Decade Night poster was designed by Elias Stein, an independent illustrator from Decatur, IL, who focuses on the intersection of sports and pop culture. Encapsulating the essence of the era and influenced by defining trends, the artwork showcases the blue, green, and gold color palette of the Jazz in the 2010s, alongside celebrated symbols of the decade.

In addition to the collectible poster, the Item of the Game on March 12 will be a navy blue crew neck that incorporates elements from the poster across the front with the Jazz’s 50th season logo on the back. The special-edition sweatshirt will be available for purchase for $30 at the Utah Jazz Team Store.&nbsp;

The Decade Night merchandise partnership with New Era and Uprok Shop in Salt Lake City continues on March 12 as the last of five limited-edition apparel drops will be available for sale exclusively at the Utah Jazz Team Store.&nbsp;

The 2010s-themed merchandise was designed by the owner of Uprok Shop, Cameron Mason. The collection features two limited-edition hats embellished with ‘Jazz’ in graffiti-style lettering as well as a gray hoodie that features the iconic mountain design and blue, green, and gold color scheme. Fans will have the option to purchase a green or black New Era hat bearing the 2010s-themed design. Only 50 pieces of each item in the collection will be available for purchase.&nbsp;

Throughout the evening, Jazz fans will enjoy a series of in-game elements that pay tribute to the decade, ranging from special on-court appearances to music from the decade including a halftime performance by hip hop group Fast Life Yungstaz (FLY) performing their popular hit ‘Swag Surfin.’&nbsp;

The 2023-24 NBA season marks the 50th season for the Utah Jazz. The Jazz debuted as an NBA franchise in New Orleans in June 1974 and relocated to Salt Lake City in 1979. To date, the organization has had 337 players step on the court contributing to nine division titles and two Western Conference championships, along with 17 seasons of 50-plus wins. Utah is one of only nine teams to have a player earn Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man, and Most Improved Player awards in their franchise history. “I’ll come pick you up from your desk.”

That was the email I got from Anthony Zamora. He had invited me to meet with him the next day at his office, but I had no clue where that was. I had expected a set of instructions or directions, instead, I’m getting a personal pick-up from Chef Zamora himself. If you take anything away from this, that’s who Zamora is. When you don’t know where his office is, he’ll come get you. That’s just what he does.&nbsp;

Anthony Zamora is the culinary mastermind behind the upcoming concept kitchen at Delta Center, The Jazzmen’s Kitchen. During home games from Dec. 2 through Jan. 3, The Jazzmen’s Kitchen will be serving up three signature dishes straight from the players’ menu – Chilled Chicken Bowl, Brisket Empanadas, and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. We’ve been told that the Crispy Brussels Sprouts are an all-roster fave.

But who exactly is this guy that the players call Chef AZ?

While he started as a nursing student at the University of Tennessee, he eventually pivoted to nutrition. Through school, he worked with the football team, assisting in their nutrition needs. Prior to joining the Jazz in 2018, Zamora spent three years in the NFL with the Rams, first in St. Louis then relocated with the team to Los Angeles. There he gained much-needed experience in nutrition and understanding what it takes to fuel professional athletes. Could you imagine what it takes to feed an entire offensive line? Not to mention the sheer number of players on an NFL roster.

But that’s what Zamora does. He figures it out, he gets things done and done well. And it isn’t just about making a tasty meal, he’s cooking up an experience.&nbsp;

“I mean, we’re putting little edible flowers on our food!” Said Zamora when describing what it takes to create an experience. I have to admit–edible flowers are never part of my dining experience when I cook. However, these flowers will be making an appearance on his Brisket Empanadas at The Jazzmen’s Kitchen (plug for the pop-up restaurant, it will be by portal V by the way). So if you’re looking for that edible-flower-on-a-empanada experience, you know where to go.&nbsp;

“The easiest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach.” For Zamora, it goes both ways. Trying new food can be scary. I mean, have you tried introducing sushi to someone who’s never even had fish? With a diverse Jazz roster, you’re bound to have a whole myriad of preferences and tastes, so what happens if you get a picky eater? You build a relationship. In his office, you’ll find a list of every single player and their favorite food. It’s this attention to each individual that makes him so special. From there it starts with the question, “Do you trust me?” If they do, they take a bite.&nbsp;

That’s the Zamora way. He might be a foodie, but I’d say he’s a people person first. When talking about his concept kitchen at Delta Center, he’s not just focused on the food. From the signage to the greenery, Chef envisions a holistic experience for every fan. After all, it’s not his kitchen, it’s The Jazzmen’s Kitchen, it’s the people he feeds. So stop by during one of the seven games between Dec. 2 and Jan. 3, he’ll be doing his thing–making good food and building relationships.

The limited-time exclusive restaurant was created by the Jazz culinary team and will serve dishes similar to those preferred by Jazz players and coaches during home games between Dec. 2-Jan. 3, 2024 

Today, the Utah Jazz announced a new restaurant concept coming to Delta Center beginning Saturday, Dec. 2. The Jazzmen’s Kitchen was created by the culinary team, led by Chef Anthony Zamora, vice president of nutrition, culinary & hospitality, who, as a registered dietitian, oversees nutrition and culinary needs for Utah Jazz players and coaches. Located on the arena’s main concourse for its limited-time, four-week run, The Jazzmen’s Kitchen brings fans an opportunity to explore the types of meals Jazz players, coaches, and front office select after a long day of practice, training sessions, and on game days.&nbsp;

The pop-up restaurant will serve three delicious entrees with ingredients that center on lean proteins and fresh produce, including locally sourced options. Fans attending Jazz home games between Dec. 2 and Jan. 3, 2024, can visit the restaurant concession stand in the northwest side of the main concourse near portal V.&nbsp;

“There is a lot of interest in how Jazz athletes maintain optimal health throughout the season, and this restaurant concept is a way for fans to explore one of the most important elements of professional competition: the fuel we put in our bodies,” said Zamora. “We crafted this menu to reflect the foods our players opt for – simple ingredients prepared intentionally and made with love – and to bring food options to the arena unlike anything else available.”

Because of how much time the team spends at Zions Bank Basketball Campus - the Jazz practice and training facility - at Delta Center, and on the road, Chef Zamora and his staff often prepare three or more meals a day for the players, coaching staff, and front office. Each meal they prepare is balanced and nutritious, but also features a variety of delicious ingredients and flavors that satisfy pallets and fuel performance and recovery.&nbsp;

Utah-based farms and food producers are providing locally sourced proteins and produce for the menu at The Jazzmen’s Kitchen, including Blue Tree Farms in northeastern Utah and Wasatch Meats and Backyard Urban Garden Farms in Salt Lake City.&nbsp;

Delta Center features a variety of other Utah-based restaurant partners including Costa Vida Mexican Grill, Spilled Milk Ice Cream, Cupbop Korean BBQ, Bon Bon Desserts & Gelato, Cubby’s, J.Dawgs, Maxwell’s Pizza, Proper Burger, Salt City Smokehouse, San Diablo Churros, Santorini’s, Swig, Totally Nutz, Chile Verde Mexican Burrito, and Honest Acai.

The Jazzmen’s Kitchen is Coming to Delta Center

The Utah Jazz announced today an update to their schedule:

Following the Group Play results of the NBA’s In-Season Tournament, the Jazz have had two games added to their 2023-24 regular season schedule. The team is now set to take on the Dallas Mavericks on the road on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. MT and the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 8 at the Delta Center at 8 p.m. MT.&nbsp;

Both games will be broadcast on KJZZ-TV, Jazz+, The KSL Sports Zone, and The Utah Jazz Radio Network. The Dec. 8 game will also be broadcast on ESPN.

The Utah Jazz is looking for talented vocalists and instrumentalists to perform the National Anthem for the 2022-2023 NBA Season.

We are only accepting submissions for soloists and small groups of four or less at this time. Instrumentalists are also welcome.

To be considered, please submit a Facebook, YouTube or video link of your National Anthem performance to entertainment@utahjazz.com. Make sure to list your full name, contact phone number and city/state of residence as part of your submission. Your submission should be a recent recording (within the last 12 months) and free from echoes and excessive crowd noise.

Please note that the Utah Jazz require that the National Anthem be sung a cappella and in the traditional manner. If selected, the performer must perform the same version at their scheduled game in the same manner as the audition video. Professional attire is required.

All participants submitting a video will be notified by email if they are invited to perform the National Anthem.

We look for powerful voices that can fill an entire arena. We prefer a clear, traditional anthem with minimal added melodies or notes. (If you are selected to sing and have extra elements in your rendition, you may be asked to change it.)

Each singer will receive four tickets, but there will be no additional compensation.
